The MEd in TESOL, Literacy, and Culture prepares students to work in adult education settings, such as community colleges, universities, adult education centers, and language academies in the United States and abroad. This online master’s in TESOL with optional certificate focuses on culture, linguistics, second language acquisition and methodology of teaching English to adult learners, including alignment with required standards and a sound understanding of the complexities of working with linguistically and culturally diverse populations.
Graduates from USD’s Master’s in TESOL, Literacy, & Culture Online find meaningful work in their community and around the world, in places ranging from California community colleges to the International School of Panama to the University of Macau. The Doctor of Philosophy in Education for Social Justice was established to build critical scholars capable of impacting the complex world of Education. Scholars graduate with rich understandings and experiences of how they might use education to build more equitable, tolerant, and socially just societies and institutions.
Students enrolled in the Education for Social Justice Doctoral Program will emerge poised to take on a variety of roles in the educational realm including: change-agents in institutes, districts and
schools; educational researchers and teacher leaders.
The Certificate in International School Counseling is designed to provide candidates with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed to effectively provide counseling and develop school counseling programs in International Schools. Certificate candidates will acquire a working knowledge of career, academic, and social-emotional counseling specifically focused for counselors wanting to and working in international schools. Students must complete the four courses over the span of one year.
This program is ideal for those who wish to work or are employed as school counselors in international schools, recent graduates, career changers, aspiring counselors, and educators who wish to develop their competencies in the field of school counseling.
Courses are offered in an online, self-paced environment, with Applied Theories and Techniques in International School Counseling offered onsite, depending on student location.
